Why I started See Me Now Project
After experiencing breast cancer treatment personally, I realized how many women stop recognizing themselves during one of the hardest seasons of life.
During treatment, I made the decision to return to work exactly as I was, mostly bald, with only some lashes and brows remaining. It was important to me to show up authentically and challenge the expectation that illness should remain hidden.
My doctoral research focused on employees with disabilities and the barriers they face in the workplace. Returning visibly changed became an opportunity to live the values I had spent years studying and advocating for.
Cancer survivorship often carries its own fears and challenges. Many women return to work while navigating uncertainty, physical changes, emotional exhaustion, and the pressure to appear unchanged.
Too often, survivorship remains invisible.
See Me Now Project was created to remind women that they are still worthy of being seen with dignity, strength, beauty, and humanity.
Because no woman should feel invisible during treatment or survivorship.
